Biodiverity

Our local environment is one of our community’s greatest assets — from green spaces and woodlands to wildflower verges and protected habitats such as the SSSI of Aberithon Turbary. Over the past few years, Llanyre Community Council has been working to care for these spaces, support wildlife, and help nature thrive alongside our everyday community life. See our latest report.

Date of Next Meeting: A planning meeting to be held remotely at 7pm on 17th March 2026

Planning agenda (any additional planning issues received before the meeting will also be discussed)

The next Ordinary Meeting is scheduled for 7pm on 21st April 2026 at Llanyre Church Hall.

However, meetings may be called at other times to deal with planning or other urgent issues.

Meetings of the council are open to the public, except when very sensitive matters are being discussed. Llanyre Community Council meetings are open to everyone and you are welcome to express your views or ask questions. Please contact the Clerk if you would like to join a meeting remotely in order that a link may be arranged.

Residents in Powys are being urged to support and shop locally wherever possible as part of a campaign launched by the county council.

Have a look ot our recent Biodiversity Report. We were surprised when we looked back over the reporting periods how much had happened. Thank you so much to averyone who volunteered in practical ways and also supported project in other ways too.

We will publish an updated report at the end of 2025 - meanwhile take a walk around Aberithon Turbary in Newbridge where local volunteers have used funding from generous local people and organisations and a wonderful grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to improve accessibility. More work will be underway in 2025 supported by funding from NRW to safeguard this special environment please visit to enjoy this and if you have some spare time perhaps volunteer to help too!
